Ubisoft co-founder Claude Guihmot died in a plane crash in France, Le Figaro reports.

The Cessna 421 light engine plane belonging to 69-year-old Guihmo crashed near the city of La Baule-Escoublac in the west of France. According to preliminary information, the businessman was driving the plane himself. Another person on the plane also died.

The cause of the accident is still unknown.

Ubisoft is one of the world's largest video game developers. The company has created such famous franchises as Assassin's Creed, Far Cry and Prince of Persia.

Claude Guihmont founded Ubisoft with his four brothers in 1986. The company remains under family management, with Claude's younger brother Yves Guillot serving as its permanent CEO.
