Thai airlines have canceled about 3,800 domestic and international flights due to a sharp increase in the price of Jet A-1 aviation fuel amid the situation in the Middle East, The Nation newspaper reported.
The director general of the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand stated that "Thailand's aviation industry has been affected by the conflict in the Middle East, as a result of which about 3,800 flights have been canceled."
A three-fold increase in the price of Jet A-1 fuel from $80 to $240 per barrel has led to an increase in fuel prices. This was the main reason for an average 45% increase in air ticket prices on some routes.
Forced revaluation of tickets has led to a decrease in passenger traffic.
