Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa had a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which they discussed bilateral relations, the lifting of the remaining sanctions against Damascus and the prospects for the economic recovery of the Arab Republic.
This was announced by the Syrian leader's office. According to the text, al-Sharaa stressed "the importance of continuing international support to Syria during the country's reconstruction phase" and noted that "the lifting of remaining sanctions is a necessary condition for revitalizing the economy and improving the living standards of the population."
The President of Syria also expressed his support for the promotion of investments and the creation of favorable conditions for the return of economic and infrastructure projects to the main sectors of the economy. During the conversation, both sides touched on regional security issues amid ongoing tensions in the Middle East. Al-Sharaa noted the need to prioritize diplomatic settlement methods and dialogue to prevent further escalation.
According to the statement of the office, Trump expressed interest in the development of the situation in Syria and the region, emphasizing the importance of maintaining stability, supporting the country's recovery and post-war reconstruction process.
