Russia and Armenia, as well as the Russian and Armenian peoples, have been linked by ties of friendship and special relations for centuries.of RIA Novostias reported by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"The Russian and Armenian peoples have been connected by ties of friendship for centuries, without any exaggeration, by special relations. We have special relations between Russia and Armenia, Russian and Armenian people," the Russian leader said.
Referring to Armenia-EU relations, Putin noted: "I told Pashinyan that everything that is good for the Armenian people will be acceptable for Russia as well. But here we are talking about purely economic issues. The crisis in Ukraine started from that."
Putin also emphasized that the humanitarian ties between Russia and Armenia will not suffer due to Yerevan's economic decisions aimed at rapprochement with the European Union.
"If Armenia starts transitioning to EU standards, then we will objectively have to stop the integration with it," he said.
