Our relations with Armenia are close, allied, but at the same time complicated. Lavrov

Russia and Armenia currently have close but at the same time complicated relations, considering the West's attempts to "subjugate" Yerevan. This was announced by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov at the press conference held after participating in the BRICS ministerial meeting in New Delhi.

"We have relations with Armenia. those relations are close, allied, but at the same time complicated, considering how the West is trying to subordinate Armenia, following the example of some other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, and break Armenia's mutually beneficial economic, trade and investment ties with its CIS and Eurasian Economic Union partners," he said.

According to Lavrov, the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) will be able to discuss the issues related to the attempts to involve Armenia in the orbit of the West at the summit of the union to be held in May. "Now, I think, is an optimal opportunity to discuss the emerging issues arising from the European Union's insistence on bringing Armenia into its orbit, including at the cost of ceding the benefits Armenia has received through the Eurasian Economic Union.

The opportunity to honestly and openly discuss all these issues will be created at the end of the last week of May, when the summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held in Kazakhstan," said Lavrov. "Nevertheless, I heard that Prime Minister Pashinyan stated that he is busy with election issues and will not be able to participate in this meeting of the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union.

Of course, this will be unfortunate, because it will be a good opportunity to discuss the issues that are currently hanging in the air," added the Russian Foreign Minister.
