Iranian authorities detained five ships carrying contraband fuel, some of which were destined for the Persian Gulf, Tasnim news agency reported, citing border guards. "After the detention of four vessels, the police found 130,000 liters of smuggled diesel fuel during the inspection.
In a separate operation, a commercial ship was also detained, where 68,000 liters of fuel was found," the statement said.
The agency noted that the two fuel shipments were intended for sale to speculators in the Persian Gulf. In total, eight people were detained.
