The White House regrets the Vatican's refusal to participate in the Peace Council

The Washington administration considers the Vatican's refusal to participate in the Peace Council's work aimed at settling the situation in the Gaza Strip to be regrettable. White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt announced this during a press briefing.

"We have seen this. I think this is deeply regrettable. Of course, the administration wants everyone invited to the Peace Council to participate. It is a legitimate organization with dozens of countries as members. And we think that this decision is painful," he said, commenting on the decision of the Holy See.

Leavitt also said that issues related to establishing and maintaining peace should not be politicized. The Holy See's decision was previously announced by Vatican Secretary of State Cardinal Pietro Parolin.

Speaking about the Peace Council, he noted that "there are some unclear points, some important issues that need clarification."
