"Hraparak" newspaper writes:
"Today, a shootout between the opposition and the government is expected in the State Legal Affairs Committee of the National Assembly. The draft statement on political prisoners, authored by the "Armenia" bloc, will be discussed. By the way, NA hearings were also called on this topic in November last year.
The draft states: "Democracy is going backwards in Armenia, and the presence of an unprecedented number of political prisoners is also a manifestation of this." The basis for the statement was the decline of democracy recorded in Armenia, which includes gross violations of freedom of speech, conscience, gatherings, pressures on mass media, fabricated criminal cases, selective trial of figures and citizens with different political views.
According to our information, the authorities are in a combative mood and will appear at the discussion today with a large arsenal to defeat the arguments of the opposition. By the way, since yesterday, the CE human rights commissioner is in Armenia, and today the RPA will hold an action in the afternoon near the National Assembly.
