Georgia's law enforcement agencies arrested a citizen of Ukraine in Batumi during an attempt to sell a large amount of narcotics, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia reported on Tuesday.

"Employees of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Adjara arrested a citizen of Ukraine (born in 1979) on the charge of illegal acquisition, possession and facilitating the sale of particularly large quantities of narcotics," the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs states.

According to the department, during the search of the defendant's apartment, the law enforcement officers found and confiscated 55 packages of methadone drug, which was prepackaged for sale in Batumi.
