"Hraparak" newspaper writes:
"A few days ago, we wrote that Nikol Pashinyan has decided to do everything to disrupt the Episcopal Assembly, which will be held in Austria in February.
Yesterday, criminal proceedings were started against Vehapar, using official powers, on the charge of not fulfilling the court act. The case was invented by the fact of the release of the former leader of Masyatsotn diocese, Bishop Gevorg.
Although the lawyers claim that the head of the diocese is bound to the Catholicos not by an employment contract, but by a covenant, and the courts and the Labor Code have nothing to do with it, but this is not essential for the authorities.
There is a court decision forcing the Catholicos to restore Gevorg Saroyan to the position of the head of the diocese. He did not fulfill that decision, so such proceedings were initiated.
Behind the scenes of the authorities, they are saying that with this proceeding, they are preparing the ground for Vehapar SECT to be closed and not allowed to leave the territory of Armenia, as they have done to all the oppositionists and many others.
This will defeat the Episcopal Assembly, whose agenda will include the question of depriving the bishops of the diocesan leadership."
