"Zhoghovurd" daily newspaper informs that a new project will be discussed and approved at today's government session, according to which the procedure for providing compensation for monetary deposits from the USSR Savings Bank will be amended and supplemented.
Thus, Article 7 of the Law "On the State Budget of the Republic of Armenia for 2026" stipulated that in 2026, the provision of compensation for deposits of citizens who are depositors in "VTB-Armenia Bank" CJSC, in the Republican Bank of the former USSR Savings Bank of the ASSR before June 10, 1993, born before December 31, 1944 or who participated in military operations for the defense of the Republic of Armenia will continue. or persons registered in the border communities of the Republic of Armenia as of August 1, 2014, whose lands are not used as a result of combat operations and have been shelled by the enemy, as well as other social groups defined by the Government, in accordance with the procedure defined by the Government.
Due to a number of problems that arose after the implementation of the project, the government initiated amendments and additions to the mentioned law. According to the project, the provision of compensation for cash deposits made in the former USSR Savings Bank in the Republic Bank of the ASSR before June 10, 1993 is also regulated for persons born before December 31, 1944, the provisions defining the procedures for payment of compensation for the deposit in cash are set as invalid. if the depositor appointed before the entry into force of this decision, but not terminated and who chose the cash method of payment, does not receive the compensation in a given month, his data can be included in the electronic payment list for cash compensation of each subsequent month, but not more than in the payment list of March 2026. It turns out that the adoption of the project will ensure the normal process of recognition of the right to compensation of deposits in 2026, in a non-cash way.
