FT: The US is ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine in case of territorial concessions

The United States is ready to provide security guarantees to Ukraine if Kiev agrees to a peace agreement that will include a number of territorial concessions. The British newspaper Financial Times reports it, referring to its sources.

According to the newspaper, in addition to security guarantees, Washington is also ready to increase arms supplies to Ukraine if Volodymyr Zelensky agrees to territorial concessions. According to the unnamed officials, the proposed US commitments will likely include a promise that those guarantees can "reflect Article 5 of the NATO founding treaty," which refers to the principle of collective defense.

At the same time, as the newspaper emphasizes, that promise seems "too vague" at the moment. American officials have stated that Washington's proposal "will not remain on the discussion agenda indefinitely."
