The Prosecutor General's Office of RA will appeal the court's decision, according to which the Investigative Committee, based on the Church's complaint, will be obliged to investigate the circumstances of the wiretapping of the telephone conversation between Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan and the former clergyman. It is about an old recording that was leaked by the official media on October 17 last year, in which the conversation between Nathan Srbazan and the former scepter of His Holiness is: About His Holiness. In particular, the scepter complains bitterly in that recording, accusing His Holiness of allegedly forcing him to participate in some rally against the government with his family members.
At the time of the leak, Aysor.am was told by the General Prosecutor's Office of RA that the recording would be the subject of an investigation, but a criminal case was not opened to find out who carried out the wiretapping, on whose orders, and to what extent the recording was tampered with.
Yesterday, lawyer Ara Zohrabyan announced that he won the case in court, according to which a mandatory criminal case should be initiated regarding the wiretapping of Archbishop Nathan Hovhannisyan's telephone conversations.
In fact, the Prosecutor General's Office of RA is against the disclosure of the circumstances of this illegal wiretapping. "The decision will be appealed in any case, that's why criminal proceedings will not be initiated until the final decision is made," the Investigative Committee reports.
