The White House has questioned Denmark's right to Greenland

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller questioned Denmark's right to own Greenland, stating that the island should join the United States.

"There will be no military action against Greenland, which has a population of about 30,000. "The real question is why did Denmark gain control of Greenland," Miller said in an interview with CNN.

"What are their territorial claims based on?" What is the basis for the fact that Greenland is considered a Danish colony? The United States is a member power of NATO. And in order for the United States to secure the Arctic and protect NATO interests, Greenland obviously has to be part of the United States. This is what we, as a country, will discuss," he said.

On January 4, US President Donald Trump announced to journalists that the US demands control over Greenland for reasons of national security.

According to the head of the Washington administration, this is a question of a strategic nature, because there are allegedly "Russian and Chinese ships everywhere" around the island, and Denmark "is unable to strengthen the security of the area."
