US President Donald Trump has often called Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky "scum" during private meetings, The New York Times reports, citing five White House aides.
"During the meetings, Mr. Trump sometimes said about Zelensky. "He is scum," the message states.
The publication added that during his first term, Trump accused Ukraine, not Russia, of meddling in the election.
He also asked for Kiev's help in conducting an investigation into Joe Biden and his family, but this led to the first impeachment attempt against Trump.
