The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Armenia informs that some users of social networks are circulating false and manipulative information about the 1st Deputy Minister of Defense of the Republic of Armenia, Chief of the Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Edward Asryan, being a citizen of the Russian Federation. Rumors about his family members being only citizens of the Russian Federation are also unnecessary speculations.
"Edward Asryan, head of the Armed Forces General Directorate, is exclusively an RA citizen, and his wife is a Russian citizen, so the children are dual citizens by birth. The wife and children of the head of the General Directorate not only have RA citizenship, but also permanently reside in the Republic of Armenia since 2006.
The son of the head of the General Staff is a soldier and is involved in the 2024 recruitment activities of the RA Armed Forces," the Ministry of Defense said in a statement.
