WSJ. Trump still doubts the possibility of military action against Venezuela

US President Donald Trump has not yet formed a final opinion on a possible military operation in Venezuela, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reports, referring to its sources.

According to their information, Trump recently expressed his doubts to high-ranking representatives of the US administration about the use of force to remove Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro from power.

At the same time, the US president, the publication notes, continues to consult with his aides about options for possible military action.

As mentioned, no deadline was set for making a decision. Trump has been offered a number of approaches, including tightening sanctions and raising tariffs on countries that import oil from Venezuela, boosting support for the opposition while increasing the military presence in the region, and conducting covert operations and airstrikes.

Washington accuses the Venezuelan authorities of not being proactive enough in the fight against drug smuggling. The US Navy has sent eight ships, one nuclear submarine and 10,000 personnel carriers to the Caribbean.
