Billionaire Jared Isaacman, who was nominated by US President Donald Trump to head the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), proposed sending an unmanned mission to Mars as early as 2026.
This was reported by Bloomberg, which obtained excerpts from the "Project Athena" program prepared by Isahakman.
According to Bloomberg, the document mentions that billionaire Elon Musk's SpaceX could be one of the companies that could help the US launch a Mars mission.
The plan also discusses possible collaboration between NASA and Blue Origin, Rocket Lab and Axiom Space. Trump nominated Isaacman to head NASA earlier this year.
