CSTO General Secretary warned about the danger of major incidents at nuclear power plants

In the light of military operations in Ukraine, the risk of major incidents with catastrophic consequences at nuclear power plants has increased significantly, CSTO Secretary General Imangali Tasmagambetov stated.

"The main events in Eastern Europe continue to unfold around the situation in Ukraine, where military operations continue."

"The risk of serious incidents at nuclear power plants, which are fraught with catastrophic consequences for wide areas, including those outside the combat zones, has increased exponentially," he said in his welcome speech at the session of the CIS Security Council secretaries held in Moscow.

The area of the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant, which is located on the left bank of the Dnieper, near Energodar, is subjected to coordinated shelling by the armed forces of Ukraine.
