A scandal is brewing in Belgium over the start of the supply of American F-35 fighter jets to the kingdom, which turned out to be too expensive to operate, noisy and absolutely too many for this small kingdom, writes 20minutes publication.
The first wave of criticism against the expensive new jet came after Belgian Defense Minister Theo Franken's recent speech in the Federal Parliament, where he stated,
that the kingdom's airspace was "inadequate" for fighter training flights, and that it would be necessary to negotiate the use of the skies over France, Italy and the Netherlands.
"Belgium has become the subject of internet ridicule for its too-small skies for the F-35," the publication notes.
