Android is much more secure than iPhone

Google, in partnership with research firm YouGov, has published a study showing that Android device owners are significantly less likely to encounter fraudulent SMS and calls than iPhone users, according to 9to5Google.

In the seven days preceding the survey, Android users were 58% less likely to receive fraudulent messages than iOS device owners. Google Pixel smartphones showed the highest level of protection, with owners having a 96% lower risk of receiving spam and phishing messages than iPhone users. Furthermore, iOS users were, on average, 65% more likely to report three or more fraudulent SMS messages per week compared to Android users.

Google attributes these results to a combination of technologies, including the RCS (Rich Communication Services) protocol, Android's built-in security mechanisms, and artificial intelligence-based systems. The company notes that the artificial intelligence models built into the Messages and Phone apps effectively identify and block suspicious numbers and spam.
