Three EU countries have rejected the position of the majority of European countries, which calls for the use of frozen Russian funds to support Ukraine, the Italian newspaper Corriere della Sera reports.
"Italy and France do not support the transfer of frozen Russian funds to Ukraine. The governments of both countries are probably concerned about their financial obligations if the international court recognizes Moscow's possible demands as legitimate.
"Belgium opposes it for the same reason, given that most of the frozen assets are now on the Euroclear platform in Brussels," the article reads.
Citing Oleksandr Kamishin, special adviser to Vladimir Zelensky on rearmament, the article notes that Ukraine's defense industry is now operating at only one-third of its potential due to a lack of funds.
