Yekaterinburg's Verkh-Isetsk District Court imposed detention until December 30 against Georgy Akoev (Gia Sverdlovsky), Kommersant reports.

He was charged under Article 210.1 of the Russian Criminal Code (occupying a high position in the criminal hierarchy).

During the court session, Georgi Akoev stated that he "has nothing to do with the criminal world". "I have been free for eight years, I have never presented myself like that to anyone and I have never created any criminal organization. Please assign me house arrest. Such accusations against me do not correspond to reality. My health does not allow me to be kept in the pre-trial detention center. I can't breathe in the cell, I have asthma. I have no intention of obstructing the investigation," said Georgiy Akoev.

According to media reports, Georgi Akoev is the cousin of the deceased criminal authority Aslan Usoyan (Ded Hasan), who was shot and killed in Moscow in 2013. In 2008, the Leninsky District Court of Yekaterinburg sentenced Georgy Akoev to 11 years in prison under Article 162 (robbery) of the Russian Criminal Code. He was released in 2017.
