Negotiations between the delegations of Syria and Israel on the development of joint security arrangements are nearing the end, Al Arabiya reports, citing diplomatic sources.
According to him, the parties are close to concluding an agreement that will settle the situation in the south of Syria, including the Druze-populated As-Suwayda province.
As the TV channel notes, the US mediation contributed to overcoming the differences.
The upcoming bilateral agreement, with some minor changes, will be similar in its main features to the 1974 agreement on the withdrawal of Israeli and Syrian forces from the Golan Heights.
In particular, the document envisages a joint Syrian, American and Israeli presence at several points in southern Syria, including Mount Hermon (Jebel el-Sheikh) in the mountainous region bordering Lebanon.
