US President Donald Trump praised Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his speech at a dinner organized for the participants of the Asian and Economic Cooperation Organization (ACEC) summit in Gyeju, South Korea, The Times of India reports.

"Prime Minister Modi is a very nice guy. I have great respect and love for Prime Minister Modi," the publication quoted the American leader as saying.

Trump noted that he gave this assessment to the Indian Prime Minister in May 2025 during the negotiations on the settlement of the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan. On May 10, the parties announced a ceasefire.

The resident of the White House claimed that he had a personal role in the settlement of the conflict, but India completely denied the claims of the US mediating role in easing the tension.
