Heads and high-ranking representatives of about 110 countries and international organizations have arrived to participate in the opening ceremony of the signing of the UN Convention against Cybercrime by Antonio Guterres, TASS correspondent reports.
Russia sent an interdepartmental delegation to the event, led by Prosecutor General Alexander Gutsan.
As the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia noted, the convention is the result of five years of hard work by the UN member states.
It became the first universal international treaty in the field of information security, affirming the need for new norms of international law to fairly regulate the digital sphere in the interests of the entire global community.
On December 24, 2024, the document was approved by the UN General Assembly.
