The Palestinian Hamas movement calls for speeding up the creation of a committee for the restoration of the Gaza Strip for its management, Hamas spokesman Hazem Qassem said.
"We call for speeding up the formation of the committee to which the management of the Gaza Strip will be transferred for its reconstruction," he told Al Jazeera. A Hamas spokesman said the movement "is committed to the terms of the cease-fire agreement in the Gaza Strip and has shown flexibility in handing over power to the Palestinian National Authority."
Commenting on the results of the meetings of the Palestinian factions held in Cairo, Qassem added that the parties have agreed on the terms of the next phase of Gaza management, which will be carried out without dividing the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.
At the same time, the upcoming inter-Palestinian consultations will discuss issues related to the deployment of UN forces, the surrender of weapons by Hamas fighters, as well as relations with Israel.
