17 of the 20 members of the Syrian family suspected of committing more than 160 crimes in Germany left Germany for Syria. The remaining three brothers remain in custody after being sentenced to prison for the June stabbing in Stuttgart, Baden-Württemberg's Justice Ministry said.
The remaining three family members are expected to leave Germany after serving the majority of their sentences.
According to the Ministry of Justice, the family that arrived in Germany in 2015 was a member of a large criminal clan. The 160 crimes the family members are suspected of include violent extortion, assault and attempted murder. All these cases did not result in final verdicts.
