"As a result of a joint operation with the aviation security department of the Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the customs officers of the revenue service of the Ministry of Finance prevented 2 cases of particularly large amounts of undeclared gold items at the customs checkpoint of Tbilisi Airport.
During the aviation security control of foreign citizens, customs officials found more than 1 kilogram of gold bars and coins of different sizes in their travel bags as a result of checking their hand luggage.
The total customs value of undeclared goods was 431 thousand 65 GEL.
The materials of the case have been transferred to the investigative service of the Ministry of Finance for further action," the statement said.
