On October 9, RA Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan received a delegation led by the newly appointed UN Food Program (PFC) Director Leyla Meli. Deputy Minister Arman Khojoyan was also present at the meeting.
The Minister congratulated Leyla Meli on assuming the post and stressed that the Armenian government attaches importance to the cooperation with the PFP. The Minister noted that the programs implemented by the PF are in line with the national priorities and sectoral strategies of Armenia, which allows to ensure real progress in the most important areas.
The parties touched upon 2026-2030 developed by the PHC. For Armenia's Strategic Program, as well as a number of other programs and initiatives, including climate change and increase food safety.
"One of our common priorities is to improve food safety in the country. In this regard, the jointly developed food security strategy and the action plan are important and created a basis for the construction of a safer, self-sufficient and durable food system for Armenia, "said Gevorg Papoyan.
At the end of the meeting, the importance of continuity of cooperation with the PHR was the need for new programs and ideas.
