The local self-government elections in Ukraine have been canceled due to the military situation

The Verkhovna Rada voted in favor of the current local advice and their management resolution until the elections were held after the elimination of the martial situation. This follows the official broadcast of the parliamentary session of Ukraine.

308 deputies voted for the resolution, the minimum of which is 226. According to the Ukrainian parliament member Yaroslav Jelleznyak, the Rada's decision means that in 2025 there will be no elections in the local self-government bodies in Ukraine.

If the resolution is not adopted, the elections of the next local self-government bodies must take place in late Sunday on October.

The decision states that after the elimination of the martial situation, the decision on the new local self-government elections will be made to the Constitution, the Electoral Code and the laws of Ukraine.

In the decision, Rada called on the international community to support the continuity of local self-government bodies in the country, citing the ongoing conflict in Ukraine.
