Putin explained why Kyiv began to lose fewer tanks on the battlefield

Kyiv began to lose fewer tanks on the battlefield, because Ukraine has fewer tanks, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference following the BRICS summit.

“Last year, during the counter-offensive (AFU - ed.), in my opinion, I’m afraid to lie, 18 thousand equipment was lost, now - almost a thousand more,” he said.

“True, they lost fewer tanks - almost a hundred, but it seems to me that they were simply used less, because the Ukrainian army simply had fewer of them,” he added.

The BRICS summit in Kazan is taking place from October 22 to 24. BRICS is an interstate association created in 2006. Russia assumed the chairmanship of BRICS on January 1, 2024. The year began with the addition of new members to the association - in addition to the Russian Federation, Brazil, India, China and South Africa, it now includes Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, the UAE and Saudi Arabia. Russia's BRICS Chairmanship is held under the motto of strengthening multilateralism for equitable global development and security. As part of its chairmanship, the Russian Federation organizes more than 200 political, economic and social events.

Ukraine’s attempted counter-offensive last year began on June 4, and three months later Putin stated: the “counter-offensive” is not only stalled, “it’s a failure.” According to him, in attempts to “achieve a result at any cost,” Ukraine lost 71.5 thousand military personnel - as if “these are not their people.” According to Sergei Shoigu, who held the position of Russian Defense Minister at that time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine did not achieve their goals in any of the areas.
