Finland has offered to boycott Eurovision

Jouni Ovaska, Chairman of the Finnish Committee on Transport and Commission, proposed that the Scandinavian countries would boycott the Eurovision Song Contest if Israel participates in it, Yle.fi reports.

Ovaska quoted the overall values shared by the Scandinavian countries. Therefore, he believes that "it would be natural to work together to a boycott and show guidance for the rest of Europe."

Ovaska plans to accept his vision on the General Scandinavian position on Eurovision in October at the next meeting of the Council of Scandinavian Ministers to be held in Stockholm.

Yesterday it was reported that the Spanish state broadcast RTVE will be renounced by the 2026 "Eurovision" song contest if the competition will take part in the Israeli representative. Israel's military operations in the Gaza Strip have been mentioned as a reason. Ireland, Slovenia, Iceland and the Netherlands also expressed a similar position.
