Russia and Iran will sign an agreement on comprehensive strategic partnership

Russian President Vladimir Putin is holding a meeting with Iran's President Masoud Pezeshkian in Kazan within the framework of the BRICS summit.

"Recently, we held a very meaningful and, I think, useful conversation in Ashgabat, we discussed the main aspects of bilateral cooperation and the most urgent regional topics. The main thing was that the mutual course of comprehensive strengthening of our ties was confirmed. They are on the rise and are really friendly and constructive," Putin said at the meeting with his Iranian counterpart.

Soon, the achieved results will be sealed with a new major interstate agreement on the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Russia and Iran, the Russian President noted.

"We are grateful that you accepted the invitation to visit our country to sign these and other important documents in a solemn atmosphere," Putin said.

In turn, the President of Iran announced that the date of signing a comprehensive agreement with Russia will be decided in the near future.

"Our relations in various spheres - economic, political, cultural - continue very well, and I am sure that we can sign this agreement soon," said Pezeshkian.

He noted that he personally would like to finalize and agree on this issue as soon as possible. "I think that the date of signing the agreement will be decided soon," the Iranian president said.
