Lavrov held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart in Istanbul

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov had a meeting with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Istanbul. According to "Armenpress", this was reported by "RIA Novosti" agency, referring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. The details of the meeting between the two ministers were not disclosed. Lavrov arrived in Istanbul on October 17 to participate in the "3+3" format meeting, in the framework of which discussions are being held. are the issues of cooperation in the South Caucasus and the Middle East.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeihun Bayramov are also in Istanbul to participate in the third meeting of the "3+3" regional consultative platform. The first session of the "3+3" consultation platform was held in December 2021.

At that time, the deputy foreign ministers of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and Turkey participated in the session. The second session of the platform was held in October 2023 in Tehran, the capital of Iran, at the level of foreign ministers. The representatives of Georgia do not participate in the meetings in this format.
