Ft. Eight countries have called on the EU to strengthen the preparedness against disasters

The Netherlands and seven other European countries have called on the European Commission to improve the preparation of society towards human and natural disasters. This was reported by the Financial Times (FT), citing the Minister of Security and Justice of the Netherlands David Van Villin.

Van Vill and his colleagues from Belgium, Luxembourg, Finland, Sweden and the Baltic States met on May 22. According to the publication, the ministers discussed "how to raise the resistance of the countries when the EU invests huge amount of money in defense to prepare for the possibility of large-scale conflict."

"We all know that the world around us is changing. We are in a new geopolitical environment, where the threat of crisis or even war is real, "Van Vill told FT after the meeting.
