On April 29, His Holiness His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians, hosted Georgian President Mikheil Kavukvili, who is in Armenia on an official visit to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.
Welcoming the President's visit to Armenia and the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the Armenian Patriarch touched upon the centuries-old friendship between the two peoples. In this regard, His Holiness noticed that during the history, the Armenian and Georgian peoples, who have relied on their Christian faith and value, have been able to overcome many difficulties and trials, maintaining their national identity and feature.
The Catholicos of All Armenians appreciated the Georgian authorities for the mediation efforts to return fifteen Armenian prisoners of war, as well as for the attitude of the Armenian community of Georgia.
