The return of illegal property must be carried out through legal mechanisms and procedures. As reported, during a question-and-answer session with the government in the National Assembly, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced this.
Pashinyan emphasized that the Armenian government has created an appropriate state institution that will continuously implement the confiscation of illegal property, regardless of political authorities.
“We have a system for confiscating illegal property, we have a system for confiscating within the framework of cases protecting state interests and a system for protecting community interests. We have created an institution for nationalization,” the Prime Minister noted.
He added that the government has done extensive work in this direction, and that this system no longer depends on the will of any political force.
“We have created an institution for state ownership. We are a bad government, we are poorly implementing the system for returning illegal property, our people will elect a good government, and that good government will come and, instead of suffering like us for 5 years, it will operate according to the mechanism that has already been created,” Pashinyan said.
The Prime Minister also noted that currently $1.5 billion worth of property is under arrest, which means that this property cannot be taken out of Armenia's borders.
