The President of the Republic of Artsakh Samvel Shahramanyan demands that the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia Alen Simonyan publicly apologize to the displaced people of Artsakh. The statement, in particular, states: “The President of the Republic of Artsakh Samvel Shahramanyan strongly condemns the assessments made by the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Artsakh Alen Simonyan yesterday from the high rostrum of the parliament and at a briefing with journalists regarding the struggle of the people of Artsakh, the defense of the homeland, and the actions of the Artsakh authorities, which have shaken the already restless souls of the forcibly displaced people of Artsakh.
With this statement, Alen Simonyan tried to humiliate the heroic struggle of the people of Artsakh during the more than 9-month siege and the large-scale military operations that followed.
Samvel Shahramanyan considers it necessary to emphasize once again that the people of Artsakh have done everything in their power to continue living in their historical homeland, however, the fight is not only waged on the battlefield, but also in the political arena. and diplomatic fronts, at the forefront of which is also Alen Simonyan, who at different times, based on political and other expediency, has changed his opinion and position on issues of utmost importance for Artsakh and Armenia. The Artsakh authorities have spared nothing so that the servicemen who defended the homeland do not feel alone and, after the cessation of hostilities, are able to leave the occupied position or blockade unharmed.
The President of the Republic of Artsakh demands that the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, publicly apologize to the displaced people of Artsakh and refrain from any assessment that undermines the struggle of the people of Artsakh and the defense of the homeland, while at the same time commenting on his own statement about who and whom was calling from Artsakh and asking to open the so-called border.
Taking into account the widespread negative reaction to Alen Simonyan’s statement among the people of Artsakh, Samvel Shahramanyan urges instead of divisive and dangerous statements to use the high rostrum of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia to solve the existential problems of the Armenians of Artsakh, to direct all energy and efforts to reviewing the failed housing program proposed for the sisters and brothers of Artsakh, and to create sufficient conditions for the people of Artsakh to remain in Mother Armenia.”
Let us recall that Alen Simonyan had earlier said, addressing an Artsakh journalist:
“You left there because it was not safe, although you could have stayed and fought to the end with the weapons that the Republic of Armenia had left. It was necessary to fight, Armenia fought, you brought in a willing government, who days later signed the abolition of that state.”
