The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, Zhanna Andreasyan, received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia, John Gallagher.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, Artur Martirosyan, and the Head of the Armenian Branch of the British Council, Adde Hovasapyan.
Welcoming the guests, the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, highlighted the effective cooperation with the Embassy and the Armenian Branch of the British Council, expressing readiness to make efforts to ensure its continuity.
Touching upon the cooperation in the field of education, Minister Zhanna Andreasyan highlighted the role and support of the British Council in Armenia in developing the methodology of teaching English and in the continuous professional development and retraining of teachers, in the implementation of the “Creative Mind” program in universities, as well as expressed gratitude for its active involvement in the framework of the “Academic City” program. In particular, within the framework of the “Academic City” program, Armenia actively cooperates with the universities of Great Britain: with the University of the Arts London and the Institute of Education of University College London.
The Minister of Education, Culture and Sports also emphasized the importance of participating in the annual World Education Forum in London as a platform to get acquainted with international experience in the field and present Armenia's experience in the context of the event.
Touching upon cooperation in the field of culture, Zhanna Andreasyan particularly emphasized the importance of joint work on the development of the Strategy for the Preservation and Development of Culture of the Republic of Armenia for 2023-2027, noting that the Strategy approved by the Government is also available in English with the support of the British Council.
Referring to the initiatives already implemented, the parties expressed their willingness to discuss new opportunities for implementing joint initiatives in the field of culture, emphasizing that there is great potential for developing cooperation in this area.
In this context, Zhanna Andreasyan also highlighted the importance of studying the British experience and the opportunity for institutional cooperation.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to the Republic of Armenia John Gallagher expressed gratitude for the reception and emphasized the effective cooperation and positive progress with the Government of the Republic of Armenia, in particular, the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports.
During the meeting, the parties also touched upon the opportunities for implementing joint programs and exchanging experience in various fields in the context of expanding effective cooperation.
