Statement by Tigran Abrahamyan, Secretary of the NA “I Have Honor” faction, in the NA:
“As predicted, Azerbaijan has turned the so-called trial of our 23 compatriots in Baku prisons not only into a propaganda campaign, but as they themselves announce through the lips of various government media outlets and spokespeople, into the formation of legitimate grounds for initiating a war against Armenia.
While various Armenian officials and government figures were bypassing or downplaying various manifestations of Azerbaijani aggression, Azerbaijan is consistently creating new threats against our country.
The situation is so extremely dangerous that the head of the ruling power was forced to admit to the public in an article that although they continue to insist on their loyalty to the peace agenda and endless readiness, Azerbaijan seems to be in no particular hurry to resolve bilateral issues through peaceful negotiations.
At the time, when we warned that the topic only outwardly concerns Artsakh and our compatriots in captivity and their families, but in reality this is a form of war that Azerbaijan is waging directly against Armenia, the authorities tried to bury everything that was related to the defense of Artsakh and the people of Artsakh, no matter what stories, leaks, and internal Armenian conflicts they provoked.
Now the situation has begun to have extreme manifestations in many cases, and the mines laid by the authorities, in terms of the political vocabulary and position used, are working against the state of Armenia. Anyway, let's understand what process is brewing in Azerbaijan and what problems they entail for Armenia.
By labeling Armenia an occupier, aggressor, and fascist, and at the same time by inciting new provocations against Armenia through Baku’s false trial, Azerbaijan is solving 2 main problems.
First, it is trying to force new concessions on Armenia with false claims and inverted justifications, threatening that otherwise it will implement its demands through the use of force.
And second, Azerbaijan has a political decision: to take the path of war in the conditions of the formation of a favorable regional and geopolitical field or the loyalty of the main actors, not harsh resistance.
The Armenian government, which has found itself in the status of being pursued, thrown, bowed down, defeated, surrendering, adapting, in some cases does not master the situation, and in some cases, it has simply come to terms with its role as a victim and is waiting for its verdict in the form of a blow or a slap.
