The Association of Armenian Organizations in Bulgaria issued a statement:
“During a meeting with a group of Armenians in Switzerland in late January 2025, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan allowed himself to discuss the indisputable fact of the Armenian Genocide planned by the Ottoman Empire. No one, be it the leader of Armenia, has the right to question the historical facts related to the national memory of the Armenian people. Such a policy serves only Turkish interests and is a conspiracy against the Armenian Diaspora and the entire Armenian people.
The Prime Minister’s statement is unacceptable for all Armenians, especially the Diaspora. The Association of Armenian Organizations in Bulgaria condemns this and similar statements that question the authenticity of the facts regarding the Armenian Genocide. We unequivocally reaffirm our unwavering commitment to continue the struggle to restore historical justice for the Armenian people. The Armenian Genocide is a historical fact recognized by many countries and international organizations. The issue of its recognition and condemnation is deeply important for Armenians around the world.
The Armenian community in Bulgaria perceives Prime Minister Pashinyan’s words as a retreat from the position of condemning the Genocide, which continues to be denied by the Turkish side. The continuation of this policy will lead to intra-Armenian tensions. In such a context, the position of the Armenian government contradicts the expectations of the Armenian people, who continue to insist and fight for the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, defending historical truth and justice.
