Georgia can take its place in the regional cooperation platform in the "3+3" format, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov announced this at a press conference dedicated to the results of Russian diplomacy in 2024.
"We have actively supported Ilham Aliyev's initiative on the creation of the "3+3" mechanism: the three South Caucasian countries and their three neighbors: Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia - Russia, Turkey, Iran. Turkish President Erdogan also supported it.
The first contacts have already taken place, our Georgian neighbors still do not occupy the seat allocated for them, but the seat at the table where we gather to discuss the problems of the region is always available for them," TASS agency quotes Lavrov as saying.
According to the minister, the "3+3" format is more objective than the format with the participation of the European Union.
"I heard a little while ago that Armenia and Azerbaijan have already reached an agreement on the peace treaty. It is clear that two questions remain, it is difficult to bypass them somehow.
It is necessary to decide: either "yes" or "no".
It was at that moment that the European Commission and the European Union began to say.
"Here we will come, we will help you." It is the sovereign decision of Azerbaijan and Armenia to sign the document when it is agreed, but also the desire of Brussels and Washington to somehow show that they have done everything. even proves that... everywhere they want to show that they are the master," Lavrov said.
