China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs denied media reports about the construction of a Chinese military base in Tajikistan. The relevant statement was made by Spokesperson of China's Foreign Ministry, Lin Jian, during the briefing. "I can say without a doubt that China has always pursued an independent and peaceful foreign policy and does not have any military bases in Central Asia," the official emphasized. Earlier, The Daily Telegraph reported about the construction of a military base by China in Tajikistan, not far from the border with Afghanistan.
