"Iran's ally Yemeni "Ansarallah" (the Houthis) launched an attack hours ago on the oil pipeline that bypasses the Straits of Hormuz and Bab el-Mandeb and runs from east to west in Saudi Arabia, as a result of which it stopped working.
Iranologist Vardan Voskanyan notes that after the establishment of full control of "Ansarallah" over the coastal city of Mokha on the Bab el-Mandeb Strait and the Mayun Island in the very center of the strait in recent days, and earlier with Iranian control of the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran effectively controls two major arteries of global cargo transportation and trade, increasing its geopolitical influence to an unprecedented extent.
"If Iran manages to consolidate this unprecedentedly advantageous situation, then from now on we will be dealing with a regional superpower of a completely different order of magnitude," the expert writes.
