The “Hraparak” newspaper writes: According to our information, about 150 Turkish businessmen are in Armenia these days, who have settled in hotels in the center of Yerevan and will participate in an economic forum today. To clarify the information, we contacted employees of the Ministries of Economy and Foreign Affairs.
They said: “No event organized by our department or involving business circles is taking place these days. For additional information, please contact the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen of Armenia.”
The executive director of the union, Eduard Kirakosyan, confirmed our information, noting that the businessmen who arrived in Armenia are from the eastern and western parts of Turkey. He did not deny our information about the forum to be held today. Why exactly from Turkey? To the question, Kirakosyan answered with a question: “And why not Turkey?”
Then he noted that the businessmen came within the framework of a grant program, and the forum does not have a clear agenda. He said that businessmen from different sectors have arrived: industry, textiles, etc. We asked if the government has anything to do with that forum, Kirakosyan said no. He said that the day after the forum, on September 4, there will be an exhibition in the Complex, the opening of which will also be attended by the minister, and during the forum, Armenian and Turkish businessmen will establish contacts and discuss cooperation opportunities. Kirakosyan also noted that information about the forum has been sent to all businessmen in Armenia, and about 120 Armenian businessmen have agreed to participate in the meetings and hold joint discussions. The forum will take place at the Holiday Inn Hotel in Yerevan.
