The "Fact" daily writes:
Yesterday marked the 35th anniversary of the declaration of independence of Artsakh. On this day in 1991, the people of Artsakh, based on all international legal bases, realized their fundamental right to self-determination, which was subsequently repeatedly recorded by international observers and organizations. On the occasion of this significant day, the "Strong Armenia" party issued a statement, emphasizing that the immediate return of all Armenian prisoners, hostages and military-political leadership held in Baku should be one of the priority agendas of the Armenian authorities.
In its statement, the party addressed the most difficult problems faced by the Artsakh Armenians who were forcibly displaced after the complete depopulation of Artsakh and ethnic cleansing. It is noted that the people of Artsakh continue to face serious socio-economic challenges today, which testifies to the insufficient effectiveness of state policy and social programs implemented in Armenia. Strong Armenia is convinced that it is impossible to build a lasting, stable and real peace by ignoring the fundamental rights of the Armenians of Artsakh, including the safe and collective return, property, as well as the protection of cultural and spiritual heritage.
This statement and the symbolic day of September once again highlight the bitter reality that the Artsakh issue continues to remain an incurable and unhealing wound for the Armenian people and the statehood of Armenia. The main task of serious political forces should be to demand and pursue fair solutions to these issues within the framework of international law, and not fruitless attempts to cover the open wound with social compensation or financial allocations.
No matter how much the current authorities of Armenia try to avoid the Artsakh issue, considering that raising it or any action may lead to a new escalation, it still does not close that wound. The policy of financial support or silence is not a therapeutic intervention. A situation arises when the state, instead of alleviating the pain or treating the organ, simply completely cuts off and throws aside that vital part. However, the wound in the body does not heal from such an approach, it continues to remain open, threatening the health and future of the entire statehood.
