Tourist trips to Germany by Russian citizens cannot continue in the previous format, as Russia is waging an aggressive war. This was reported by Deutsche Welle, the spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry, Martin Giese, announced. The German Foreign Ministry announced yesterday that Berlin would tighten entry controls for Russian citizens in response to the drone incident at Leipzig airport, for which the German authorities held Russia responsible.
Giese noted that different countries apply different degrees of strictness in issuing visas. "There is still work to be done in this direction. We will also hold negotiations with our partners in the European Union on this issue. We want the number of visas issued to be reduced even further," the spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry emphasized.
In addition, the implementation of the above measures is aimed at ensuring the entry of only those persons who do not pose any threat, the diplomat emphasized. According to him, the issue falls under the joint jurisdiction of the German Foreign Ministry and the Federal Ministry of the Interior.
