Body of 20-year-old tourist found in river near Chalaadi Glacier in Georgia

The body of 20-year-old Maria Khmelyova was found in a river in the upper reaches of the Chalaadi glacier in the Svaneti region of Georgia, Georgia Online reports, citing regional websites.

According to available information, the girl was traveling through Georgia by car. On the morning of August 30, she left the hotel in Mestia, after which she headed towards the Chalaadi glacier. At approximately 13:00, Maria was last heard from, reporting plans to continue her journey to Batumi.

The search for the girl began on August 31. Her car was found in a parking lot near the Chalaadi glacier.

The circumstances of her death are being clarified.
