During a concert in Martuni, an 18-year-old young man was hit in the head and taken to the hospital.
According to photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan, the incident occurred on August 13, and after the incident, 18-year-old Ashot Madatyan was taken to Yerevan with serious injuries.
The boy’s mother, Ruzanna Tarposhyan, said that Ruzanna’s cousin’s grandson, 16-year-old Avetik Simonyan, was also with them during the event.
“Avetik is behaving badly, constantly bothering others, saying bad words. The two brothers and their friend decide to accompany him home so that there is no trouble. After arriving home, my son, Ashot, goes up the stairs and asks his relatives to keep Avetik at home so that he does not cause any trouble,” the mother says.
According to him, at that moment a 16-year-old boy came out and hit his 18-year-old son on the head. “We don’t know what he hit him with. They say different versions: one says it was a club, another an axe, the third something else. But the blow was severe, because from one blow my son received multiple facial fractures and lost consciousness.”
The family immediately reported the incident to the police. According to the mother, on the night of the incident, one of the young man’s friends and her husband were taken to the police station and questioned. At the same time, the family demands to examine possible video recordings from the cameras at the scene. According to the mother, there are a bank, a hotel and other buildings in the vicinity of the scene, where video surveillance systems are installed.
The mother also notes that three days after the incident, the 16-year-old boy gave a statement to the police, presenting his version of the incident. According to the mother, he said that three friends tried to hit him, he ran away, entered the house, and then they came after him, after which he defended himself. The family, however, does not accept this version and demands an objective investigation to determine the true circumstances of the incident.
